Economic Impact

Solving a family's economic need enables solutions to a wider set of social challenges. Through microforestry, rural families can increase their income three-fold over the average tree harvesting cycle. This boost in income provides the capital to invest in a wide range of social benefits: improved healthcare and sanitation, better education and further economic opportunities, all of which lead to a more sustainable and prosperous life.

Although agroforestry requires a long-term delivery model, we harvest our trees in phases to provide regular revenue. We also intercrop our trees with short-term crops, such as cowpeas, to immediately boost income as well as nutrition.

KOMAZA generates further economic impact through local jobs. To date, we have created over 100 new jobs in remote regions of the country, and over 90% of our positions are filled by Kenyans.
